Team Captains

Team Captains play an important role in Servathon! As a Team Captain, you’ll help your team to:

  • Decide on a name and register;
  • Recruit team members;
  • Set and meet a fundraising goal;
  • Lead team members in selecting a project; and
  • Celebrate with your team at the party!

Think about all the groups you’re involved with: your sports teams, alumni group, church or spiritual group, colleagues, school, book clubs, etc. Be a leader! Get them involved!

To start a new team:

  • Decide with your team on a name and a fundraising goal;
  • Register your team by going to www.servathon.org, clicking on Register Now and following the easy-to-use steps for creating a team.
  • Anyone wanting to join that team just needs to visit www.servathon.org to register as a volunteer. Then click “Join a Team” and enter the names of the team and the Team Captain.

Team names on t-shirts were such a big hit last year, we are bringing them back in 2010! All teams with 25+ people who register by Monday, March 17, 2010 will be able to get their team name printed on their Servathon t-shirt.  We will also be having a contest for the best team name, with prizes being awarded at the after party! To have others join your existing team:
New team members will need to know the team name and Team Captain’s name.

Then they can:

  • Visit www.servathon.org
  • Click Register Now and follow the steps for joining a team.

Did You Know?

Did you know that Servathon volunteers alone raise over $100,000 for year round services provided to area nonprofits and schools through Greater DC Cares? Services that include: the board leadership program, community tool chest, leadership & development trainings, volunteer services and more!

This year we have an ambitious goal to raise $160,000 – and we need your help! The money raised during Servathon helps fund Greater DC Cares services throughout the year. Service such as large days of service, skilled volunteering, trainnings, and much much more.
