About
Servathon has an 18 year history of bringing together thousands of area volunteers for two extraordinary days of service. Volunteers who participate in Servathon have the opportunity to make a lasting impact at nonprofits and schools in our region.
Last year, Greater DC Cares engaged over 4,000 volunteers in service projects at 72 nonprofits and schools. This year we invite you to be one of the 7,000 volunters on April 23 - 24 who will engage in service at Servathon. To find out more about the different ways you can be involved, visit VOLUNTEERING.
Servathon Dates:
- Friday April 23, 2010 – Servathon Sponsors’ Day of Service
- Saturday, April 24, 2010 – Open to all volunteers, including sponsors
Registration and Fundraising:
Individuals and teams can start registering on Monday, February 1. A $25 registration fee helps share in the program costs (project supplies, t-shirts, trash bags, water, etc) of the day. We also ask each volunteer to raise $100 or more to support Greater DC Cares’ efforts to connect volunteers to the community throughout the year. It’s not mandatory, but we appreciate your help! The money raised will enable Greater DC Cares to continue to impact regional nonprofts and schools by providing them with critical volunteer services. To find out more about the helpful tools and resources we provide to volunteers, visit FUNDRAISING.
NOTE: You can register at any time until we are at our capacity of 7,000 volunteers. In early April, we will have the opportunity to select the service projects for yourself or your team. All volunteers must be the age of 12 or older. See our Servathon FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS for more helpful information about the day.
The money you raise for Servathon will allow Greater DC Cares to continue to provide critical services to the region. If each volunteer raises $100, we can:
- Implement 1,000 volunteer projects throughout the region;
- Help provide 36,000 meals to people who are homeless or living with HIV/AIDS and other illnesses;
- Provide free tools to more than 200 local nonprofits through our tool “lending library” so they can upgrade their facilities;
- Connect skilled volunteers — professionals in areas like technology, fundraising and marketing — to more than 115 nonprofits to help build their capacity;
- Paint 3,000 classrooms in local public schools;
- And so much more!
Servathon can also provide great benefits to your company. To find out how, visit our section on SPONSORSHIP.
*All registrations fees are non-refundable.
